Yet another
incredible find from the GIANT New Old Stock character watch buyout that
we recently made !! We were very blessed & fortunate to become friends
with the President and National Sales Director from the Bradley Time Division of
Elgin National Watch Company. We have purchased from him an absolute
TREASURE TROVE of 100% all original, first issue Factory prototypes of Bradley
watches.
The particular
watch shown on this page is the Popeye (POP-2) Bradley factory model
#5708. This Popeye is
built by Bradley and licensed through King Features Syndicate. The
chrome plated case measures 29.50mm in diameter (not
counting the stem & crown) by 38.60mm lug to lug. The watch has a
high polished beveled bezel, lugs and case sides with original
satin sand-marked case back.
The movement is
the original quality Swiss made mechanical wind up movement.
The
multicolored enameled dial is in MINT condition. The dial features
Popeye with fully animated hands/arms "dancing his cap off" with his
trusty can of spinach at 2-3. This
Classic original watch is in excellent overall
condition.
The Bradley
Character Watches Identification & Price Guide Book (page 64) lists
wholesale dealers collector value on this watch at $300, and this price was
over 12 years ago!
