"Nickel" !!
Except for the occasional
pre-owned antique pocket watch fob or chain (which we
also have in stock), we have not seen these offered or shown
anywhere on the Internet, and believe that we are the only source in
the country for solid nickel New-Old-Stock pocket watch chains.
One of our many suppliers who is
now 3rd generation in watch material sales discovered several trunks of these in the basement of his grandfathers home who over
100 years ago was a wholesaler to the watch and jewelry
industry. His Grandfather and Father hand
manufactured these pocket watch chains because most of the large
pocket watches at that time were in nickel and needed a sturdy,
solid and long lasting matching pocket watch chain! This chain pattern is done in a
"Boston", or "alternating square link" pattern. There is a large
oversized spring ring at one end, & a pocket watch snap-swivel at the
opposite end. The overall length is approximately 11-12 inches,
however, on some rare occasions, we have discovered a few chains up
to 13-14inches. If we could find one available, we would charge $59
for the longer models. These are a perfect add-on item to any Pocket
watch !
